TALLOW BEACH HOUSES, BYRON BAY
Tallow Beach Houses is a series of cabins located amongst littoral rainforest and coastal dune vegetation on Tallow Beach south of Byron Bay.  Blackwood Ecology completed an Ecological assessment for the owners that included development of a vegetation management strategy to meet bushfire requirements while minimising impacts on adjacent areas of littoral rainforest, stands of Coast banksia and the adjacent SEPP 14 coastal wetland of Tallow Creek.

BINDARABBI RURAL LAND SHARING COMMUNITY (RLSC), KOREELAH
The BindarabbiCommunity engaged Blackwood Ecology to assess a 200ha property  bordering the Koreelah Gorge and Koreelah National Park.  Twenty-one proposed house sites as well as a Community centre and large cropping/grazing area were assessed as part of the development. The assessment of impacts was required to incorporate vegetation management required for bushfire protection as well as assess the need to gain access to the site through Koreelah National Park. The location of dwelling sites was specifically designed to locate dwellings within two suitable areas of the site to limit vegetation removal and minimise potential impacts to the Threatened flora species, Bailey’s cypress pine, which was recorded within the Subject site.

SANGSURYA YOGA RETREAT, BYRON BAY
Sangsurya is a purpose-built centre specialising in yoga, meditation and personal growth retreats.  Retreat accommodation, meditation halls and other infrastructure are located amongst native forest and landscaped grounds on the escarpment overlooking Byron Bay, NSW.  Blackwood Ecology have worked with Sangsurya since 2007 on a series of Council approvals and have developed a Vegetation Management Plan for the site addressing bushfire management requirements. Detailed Flora and Fauna surveys in 2009 recorded several threatened species using the site, including Common blossom bats foraging within an area of revegetated rainforest planted by the owner on degraded pasture land.
