COMMUNITY PROJECTS

BANGALOW PARK CONSTRUCTED WETLAND
The Bangalow Park Wetland was conceived as part of Rous Water's Reconnecting to Country project.  The aim of the wetland project was to turn the dry riverbed adjacent to the Bangalow Pool into a constructed wetland with natural values. Stormwater entering the wetland is naturally filtered of nutrients resulting in improved downstream water quality and biodiversity within the wetland.  Walking tracks through the wetland with interpretative signage will encourage passive recreational use of the wetland and provide opportunities for relaxation, education and bird watching.

Blackwood Ecology worked with wetland designer Dave Pont, Bangalow Land and Rivercare and Sustainable Futures  and produced a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to assess potential impacts and benefits of the project and develop management strategies for the construction and future operation of the wetland.
