Blackwood Ecological Services is an environmental consultancy based on the NSW far north coast. Blackwood specialises in Flora and Fauna survey and management. The consultancy was established in 2003 by Mark Free, the manager and principal environmental scientist, and conducts work throughout New South Wales, Queensland and further afield.

Blackwood provides services to both the public and private sectors. We provide ecological assessments for purposes such as: residential and commercial developments; infrastructure projects; land subdivision and rezoning; ecotourism development; threatened species management and natural area conservation and rehabilitation.

We produce specific environmental reports such as: Species Impact Statements (SIS); Flora and Fauna Assessments; 7 part tests of significance; Vegetation Management and Rehabilitation Plans; Fauna Management Plans; Threatened Species Management Plans and Reviews of Environmental Factors (REF).

Blackwood Ecological Services is dedicated towards delivering high quality, timely and cost-effective work at all times. We work closely with clients and stakeholders such as private landholders, local government, conservation groups and statutory authorities, integrating ecologically sustainable development principles with project design.

We maintain a network of colleagues and subconsultants to call upon when required for specialist services and regularly collaborate with other consultants on multidisciplinary and large scale projects.
